It’s known to all that documentary is a kind of video art, with the reputation as country albums because of its functional meaning. Documentary recorded the social changes in an authentical way. This paper focused on the motivation of Chinese TV documentary’s production, tried to explore the social motivation behind the contemporary documentary. Besides, documentary as a kind of social consciousness, it had a re-emerge influence on social existence, this paper tried to outline the relationship between them.Methods employed include documentation analysis and text analysis, this paper sorted out the history of Chinese TV documentary’s development, traced the history of how Lenin’s visualization of politics has had a profound influence on Chinese TV documentary. In addition, this paper concerned the market economy’s development increased day by day to economic factors influence since China’s reform and opening-up, while cultural factors resulted in the rise of humanities documentary. This paper also took The Bite of China as an example, explored the realistic prospect of China’s TV documentary, analyzed the mode of action which influenced The Bite of China from an angle of categorized production, finally, this paper pointed out the reason why it’s difficult to realize organic unity between artistic value and commercial value for Chinese TV documentary.This paper also made recommendations for the diversified development of Chinese TV documentary in the future, aimed at stimulating the realistic survival and future development of Chinese documentary based on the studies of traditional aesthetics.
