The elementary oral Chinese textbooks for foreign learners have taken the very important ratio in all kinds of teaching materials in Chinese as a foreign language. We can find that there are many different kinds of textbooks in current publication, between which there have a lot of overlap. One reason is the improvement of textbook compilation and teaching method don’t keep up with the pace of the times. Another reason is that the number of Chinese learners increases in the world. As we all know, textbook compilation is also a process of investigation. It is associated with the author’s understanding of teaching theory and practice. Task-based language teaching has been introduced to the foreign language teaching in China in the early twentieth century, and then is applied to teaching Chinese as a second language. Advocating learning by doing and learning by using, this teaching method opens the new models of spoken language teaching for the second language. Therefore, it is very important to the development of teaching Chinese as a second language in our country by applying the Task-based Language Teaching to the textbook compilation of the elementary oral Chinese textbooks for foreign learners. So far, the study on the elementary oral Chinese textbooks for foreign learners is still on its early stage, but there is no doubt that the textbook compilation of the elementary oral Chinese textbooks for foreign learners will be a brand-new important trend.This article defines the task-based language teaching and the task, and analyzes the basis for the four Task-based Language Teaching theories:the functionalism linguistics, construction doctrine theory, linguistics acquisition theory and interaction theory in detail. It also analyzes the mode of operation and the characteristic of Task-based Language Teaching.Then by comparing the compiling ideas, grammar distribution and design of exercises, this paper explores the difference and sameness of the two elementary oral Chinese textbooks for foreign learners by complete or partial Task-based Language Teaching on using four recent elementary oral Chinese textbooks for foreign learners as research models. It discusses some questions such as the compiling style of the traditional oral textbooks and the task-based oral textbooks, the necessity of paying attention to the grammar, the importance of task-based practice and so on.By comparing the four textbooks, this paper analyzes the characteristic of complete elementary oral textbooks in detail and raises the revelation of Task-based elementary oral textbooks in teaching Chinese as a second language. It brings the requirements of Task-based Chinese textbooks for foreign learners to teachers and students and states the application of task-based textbooks in class teaching by practical teaching application case.It gives some suggestions on the compiling of the elementary oral textbooks and points out the innovation and shortcoming by the above.Based on the above research, from the perspective of the task-based teaching, this paper tries to study the problems of compiling the elementary oral Chinese textbooks for foreign learners, and study how to apply the new teaching theory and ideas to compiling and the textbooks. I hope that my research can have a little function to the elementary oral Chinese textbooks for foreign learners based on task-based teaching. The research can make more teachers of Chinese language to foreigners apply the task-based teaching to class teaching with the knowledge and understanding of task-based teaching. My research can make a contribution to promoting Chinese Language.
