| Promoted by the multi-culture,"Chinese style", as the visual angel of Chinese modern art, has plays an important role in international art exhibition. Rooting, germinating and flourishing on the stage of the International Art Biennale (Triennial), it has become the most influential works in today’s international art exhibitions with its unique artistic charm. However, due to the collision of Chinese&Western cultures and the strong impact of Western culture, traditional cultural elements in Chinese contemporary art are on the edge of disappearing and vulgarization. Some Chinese artists are confident to employ "Chinese style"---contemporary forms of artistic expression, as a strategy to compensate for this cultural phenomenon, and arouse cultural awareness about contemporary art. In this way, the traditional elements of national culture can become a conscious choice for contemporary artists. In the rich traditional culture and world economic integration wave, forming an explore way featured with "Chinese style" is of a great practical significance to establish Chinese contemporary art creation and evaluation system. This paper regards "Chinese style" as a breakthrough point to explore themes and works of the International Biennial. By analyzing and classifying the exhibition of Venice International Biennale in Italy, Sao Paulo Biennale in Brazil, Kassel Documenta in Germany, Sydney Biennale in Australia, Lyon Biennial in France, the Whitney Biennial in America, the "Liverpool Biennial in Britain, Gwangju Biennale in South Korea, Yokohama Triennial in Japan, Biennale in Shanghai, China, we can explore the sense of thought and expression experience from the perspective of " Chinese style" in the contemporary art, and then re-consider inheritance and re-innovation of the traditional culture from the aspects of depth, form and the law of development. In terms of form, some of Chinese artists are more and more international, but when comes to the depth of thought or the experience of expression, they become increasingly pale and hollow. Faced with this cultural phenomenon in this particular stage, we can only regard our own traditional culture as a realistic starting point and then we can sort out its law of development. And only in this way can we make an effective answer to clarify the relations between China and international Biennale. Of course, this article is not exhaustive in analysis. The paper falls into three chapters. And it develops step by step in recurrence analysis method.The first chapter is to illustrate germination and development of the emergence of "Chinese style" in International Art Biennale (Triennial) Multicultural Context. Start from the historical concepts of International Biennale (Triennial), this paper will clarify the characteristics of Chinese artists’ works, analyze symbol features generated from "Chinese style in the international Biennale (Triennial), and explain this phenomenon is bound to appear in global multicultural context. The second chapter is the focus of this study. This part will focus on the theme of the" Chinese style" from the perspective of International Biennial (Triennial)" by profiling experience of artists to reveal such successful strategy. The third chapter is to reflect on the meaning of contemporary art and to analyze practical significance of "Chinese style" under the "global and local" context". This cultural phenomenon reflects the cultural consciousness of the contemporary Chinese artists, and their strategy of integrating into the world art trends. It is a good way to break the "post-colonial" pattern, improve our own culture and avoid post-colonial fate. Only in this way can the diverse culture landscape be more meaningful. |
