Professor lv Jun(1997) suggests that translation is a kind of cross-culture information communication and exchange, and its essence is communication. All the tasks it has to complete can be summed up as the communication of information. Therefore, translation can be described as a kind of inter-cultural communication. For domestic artists and art aficionados, translational magazine provides a convenient tool to learn the advanced painting techniques and styles in the world directly. How to make the translated text work in concert with large numbers of paintings contained in the magazines is the special problems that translators need to address. As a special translation activity, both aesthetics value and culture transfer should be considered in art magazine translation.Lasswell’s (1948) communication theory which contains who says, says what, in what channel, to whom and with what effect will be used to analyze some particular or intractable translation that the author encountered in art magazine translation. This paper address the five elements from four aspects:requirements for translator, audience analysis, media analysis and effect analysis. The combination of communication theory and art magazine translation could explain the choices of the translation strategies and language feature. Translators should improve the aesthetic standard, accumulate related knowledge and distinguish the target readers. In addition, the translated text should adjust language features and translation strategies according to communication content. In order to deliver readers aesthetic enjoyment and professional knowledge, the translation of art magazine should be comprehensively considered from the perspectives of translators, audience, media and effect. |
