In this thesis, a study of Strategies for Chinese Idioms Interpretation under Translation Variation Theory, the author analyses the characteristics of both the cite interpretation and the Chinese idioms. While studying the basic theory and the methods of Translation Variation, the author try to apply the Translation Variation Theory to Chinese Idioms interpretation. Through the cases study, the strategies for Chinese Idioms Interpretation under Translation Variation Theory have been concluded. In Chinese idioms interpretation, the following three strategies can be used properly. They are selective interpretation, interpreting and editing and explanatory interpreting. With a view to explore the three strategies in the Chinese idioms interpretation and to improve the quality of interpretation, the purposes and strategies are categorized in this paper. While interpreting adjective idioms, the best strategy is selective interpretation. The interpreting and editing is used in a string of idiom with inner connection. Often the explanatory interpreting is to explain some short and meaningful idioms. In fact,it’s important for interpreters to grasping the scale while applying translation variation into interpretation, based on the characteristics of interpretation and Chinese idioms.
