A Practice Interpreting Report On The Documentary Of The Construction Of The Laws

Along with the deepening of the reform and opening-up, the development of China’s politics, economy and culture has brought highly attention from people all over the world. The Construction of the Laws-Documentary of Legal System with Chinese Socialist Characteristics, a large-scale literature documentary, shows the development and formation of Chinese legal system in a complete and visual way. Therefore, in order to introduce the forming process of Chinese legal system to the interested foreign friends, the interpreter challenged herself to interpret this documentary.This paper is a consecutive interpreting practice based on the material of the 2nd and 3rd episode of the documentary. In this paper, the interpreter aims to reflect the whole process of the interpreting by listing and analyzing the problems that meet in it. Since the legal terms in this documentary cannot be translated more professional, the interpreter did lots of research on politics and legal stuff in preparatory stage. The interpreting has certain difficulties.This report consists of three parts.The first part is introduction. It mainly introduces why choosing this documentary as the interpreting material and its realistic significance.The second part is the main body which made of three chapters.The first chapter is the task description, briefly introducing the background of documentary The Construction of the Laws and details about its second and third episode. It also mentions the interpreting theory used during the process.The second chapter is the process description, analyzing the role preparation plays in the process of interpreting and the impacts some factors may have on the interpretation, such as notes, grammar and professional terms. It also lists some difficulties during interpreting.The third chapter is case analysis--analyzing some strategies used during interpreting and ways to solve the difficulties.The last part is conclusion. It summarizes former statement and discussion, pointing out the aim of this paper which is to improve the quality of interpreting and proficiency in professional terms on the target materials. Through analysis of the whole process of interpreting, the author summarizes the experiences and lessons which will provide references for the future interpreter to some extent hopefully.
