This is a translation report on Lucky Jim which is the representative work of the famousBritish novelist Kinsley Amis, the translator selects Chapter Five, Chapter Six, and ChapterSeven to put into translation practice, then draw a conclusion from the translation process andtranslation difficulties.This report is mainly divided into five parts: Part One is the translation projectdescription, including translation project background, the introduction of the writer and thisnovel. Part Two is the introduction to translation process, including preparations beforetranslation, translation process and corrections after translation. Part Three is about thefunctional equivalence theory and the difficulties the translator meets during the translationprocess, which is the main part of this report. Meanwhile, the understanding and adjustmentof complicated sentences, misunderstanding, the refining of words, literal translation and freetranslation; rhetorical application and the influence of culture are also discussed in this part.And some examples are set to illustrate the detailed difficulties in the process of translation.Part Four is about the perception and insight on literary translation. Part Five is theconclusion, the whole translation process is summarized.
