This is a translation report on the English famous novel Lucky Jim, written by KingsleyAmis. The translator chose Chapter One, Chapter Two and Chapter Three as source text. Thisnovel, a rare comedy, was published in the year of1954, by which Kingsley Amis satirizedthe elite culture, campus life and pre-war modern experimentalism he disliked. Thistranslation report is divided into five parts: Part One is written on the description oftranslation task, including the background, goal and significance of this translation task. PartTwo is the background of this novel, including introduction of the author, the background ofthe source text, the brief introduction to the main content of this novel. While the third partwill mainly discuss the functional equivalence theory, which is used in this translation. Thefourth part is about the difficulties and methods used in the process of translation. The fifthpart points out the enlightenment and unresolved problems of translation.
