Recent years, a kind of “learning Chinese hot” trend becoming more and more popularin the world, foreigners come to China to learn Chinese language and cultural knowledge hasbecome a common phenomenon, but in the process of learning Chinese, learning Chinesecharacters is the most important part. Students must master a certain number of Chinese charactersfirstly, then with these Chinese character basis, they can learn and use Chinese furtherly.In the past three decades, teaching Chinese to foreigners has become an independentdiscipline, and the researches about teaching Chinese characters are countless. Chinese charactersis one of the most historic characters in the world, foreign students in the procedure of learningChinese characters always find that it is difficult to learn Chinese characters, the Chinesecharacters’ shape and structure are too sophisticated, they only knew its tone, but don’t know itsmeaning, even don’t know how to use it to carry out communication and writing. This article pointat the primary Chinese learner, based on the “characters’ culture” and classifying the characters asthe teaching method, promoting the students’ ability to grasp and use the Chinese charactersflexibly, in order to improve their Chinese level.This article is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction about therelations between the Chinese characters and cultural as well as the research production aboutteaching Chinese characters to foreigners. The second chapter is to describe the relationshipbetween the Chinese characters and culture. The third chapter is the characters culture’sapplication in the teaching Chinese characters to foreigners, discussing the status of teaching Chinese characters to foreigners and the teaching methods have already proposed, then puttingforward that based on the “characters’ culture” and classifying the characters as the teachingmethod to promote the students’ study efficiency and the ability of using Chinese charactersflexibly. The last chapter is a summary about the importance of the Chinese character teaching, topromote the international students can learn Chinese better, enhancing the cross-culture’scommunication and transmission.
