Good urban cultural brand image design is the embodiment of citycompetitiveness in today’s urban modernization. The good urban image is anintangible asset which creates opportunities for the city and helps city to improveits competitiveness. The city image is not single which contains the situationanalysis and refinement of its culture, history, local customs, geographical features,economic level and so on. This research is made from the perspective of visualdesign. The author of this thesis takes image design of Wuhu city, Anhui provinceas an example, starts from research on historical culture and local customs of thecity, adopts successful examples of outstanding city image designs at home andabroad, and aims to explore how to use the city visual image to promote urbandevelopment. The author highlights the personality of urban culture by designinginfrastructure such as transport, environment, housing, security, tourism to makethe city look brand-new. Internally enhance the cultural identity among localpeople and increase economic ties with other cities. Externally advocate urbanculture and improve urban competitiveness.
