A Study On City Visual Identity Design To Lift City Image

Since the visual identity design was born in 1920's,it has been in the service of the corporate territory.With the development of the society,visual identity design has been out of the category of traditional Corporate Identity System(CIS),began to expand wider fields.City as the foundation of human civilization,it's expansion and development provides a new broad stage to the VIS design.The rapid development of globalization and urbanization,led to the increasingly serious homogeneity of the city,but also stimulated the competition between different cities.This competition is obviously in Europe,and reflects more and more on the culture field,rather than economy competition.Many cities in Europe has built a unique image card and introduced fashion,avant-garde visual identity system for their city.The apply of city visual identity system can build a better city image,attract talent and investment,and promote the related industries,such as tourism and education which can help the city standing in a good position in the fierce competition.In China,the construction of city VIS started later,but it is also developing rapid.Hefei as the capital city of Anhui province,has developed rapidly in recent years,but on the construction of city image system has been lagging.Hefei need a new ways and means to shape it's own image,enhance the city's cultural soft power.This article is based on the construction of Hefei city visual identity system,starting to studies and analyzes the development trend and style tends of contemporary visual identity design,to learn and analysed many outstanding design cases from home and abroad.On the other hand,combined with the humanities,history and geography of hefei to define the city positioning and temperament,follow with the modern visual identity design process,in combination with rational method to generate graphics,built a city visual identity system for Hefei which is completely,Lively and full of contemporary feeling.And take the basic design elements into application,obtained rich design results and design experience.
