Translation Practice Report On IMPROVED OPTICAL SOLAR REFLECTORS

With the entrance of WTO and the acceleration of the process in the economicglobalization, and the increasing communication between China and the international world ineconomy, culture, education and technology, Chinese enterprises introduce new technologyfrom abroad and more and more Chinese products come into foreign markets. Therefore, the translation of patent documents plays a decisive role.The author translated one patent document provided by Chinese Society of ElectricalEngineering, and writes down the translation report according to the translation process andtries to solve the problems happening in the process by the functional translation theory. Theauthor divides the translation report into four parts. The first part is task description,introducing the background of the texts, the reasons for selecting the texts and the features ofthe texts. The second part is process description, describing the preparation for translation,translation theory selection and the practice process. The third part is the case analysis,introducing the functionalist translation theory, analyzing the source texts and target texts andtrying to use the translation strategies to guide the practice. The last part is a conclusion,summarizing some translation tips for translators on Patent translation. Meanwhile, the writeralso points out that translation theories can hardly claim any validity without the support ofpractice. Only by combining them together can translators fundamentally improve the qualityof the version.
