Report On The C-E Translation Of A Patent Application Document In The Field Of Artificial Intelligence

In today's world,people pay more and more attention to intellectual property protection,in which patent right is a kind of intellectual property.As an intangible asset,patent has great commercial value and is an important means to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises.The patent right is the exclusive right of the patentee to its invention.Therefore,more and more domestic and foreign enterprises apply for patent protection to enhance their competitiveness,and the demand for patent translation is becoming stronger and stronger,and the requirements for translation are becoming more stringent.The author selected a patent application filed by Huawei for translation,which belongs to the field of artificial intelligence.Using the patent translation experience accumulated in the RWS Group,the author used Trados software to translate the original text with various dictionary tools.The translation practice report written by the author mainly includes the task description,process description and case analysis,and expounds the language,format and other characteristics of the patent document.The patent text has the nature of a legal document,and its translation requires high accuracy and has fixed expressions;under the guidance of Skopos theory,the author analyzes examples of lexical,syntactic and discoursal level,and solves problems of translating technical terms and fixed expressions at the lexical level,non-subject sentences and long sentences at the syntactic level,and cohesive ties at the discoursal level,summarizing the corresponding translation methods.This translation practice is the author's attempt and exploration of the translation of a patent text in the field of artificial intelligence.In this translation report,the author uses a macro document “Term.Bas file” to extract terms,so as to unify these technical terms;and during translation,the author clarifies the translation ideas and continuously improves the quality of translation.The author hopes that this report can provide practical experience for the translation of patent texts.
