Among all Japanese grammars, Japanese giving and receiving expression is a big difficulty for Chinese learners to acquire. In communication, Japanese giving and receiving expression is a vital way to manifest interpersonal relationship. The absence or misuse of Japanese giving and receiving expression is quite disrespectful and can even damage speakers’relationship with others. Therefore, studies on Japanese giving and receiving expression have been made by a large number of researchers and the results of those studies are very impressive. However, so far, there aren’t enough studies about the acquisition of Japanese giving and receiving expression for Chinese learners, and the empirical studies of which by using Marked Theory are even less. This essay firstly introduces the Japanese giving and receiving expression of Chinese and Japanese separately.
