A Report On The Translation Of English News Of China Daily

With the rapid development of technology, the communication of the different countrieshas been becoming more and more frequently. Under this circumstance, English news showsits own significance to deliver information. Focused on the English news having its owncharacteristics, such as accuracy, brevity and clarity, when translating English news,translators need to follow these characteristics and principles to find out the applicability ofrelevance.With the help of relevance theory that proposed by Sperber and Wilson in1986and theexperiences of being an intern reporter of China Daily Henan Bureau to translate Englishnews in China Daily, this article analyses the characteristics and translation of English news.I collected ten articles which were published in China Daily, sharing the translation ofEnglish news with the support of relevance theory. The translation report shows the usage ofthe relevance theory and how to achieve a better news translation in the process of translatingEnglish news.The translation of English news should focus on the reading habits of target readers,making sure the translation news logically and fluently. Relevance theory can be applied toguide English news translation for its stronger explanation power, which provides a betterguidance with the continuing practice of English news translation.
