| The convey of news prompts the share on the global culture and knowledge. With the development in the technology and science, people have greater desire on information. Timeliness and sharing on news satisfy people's needs. Nowadays, English news is of increasing significance because 80% of news is reported in English. So news translation plays an essential role in spreading news.This paper is a report based on author's field practice as a translator. Based on the relevance theory and reflection of author's revised texts, the author analyzes the application of relevance theoretical approach in English-Chinese news translation and discusses the practical translation strategies. The author discusses five translation strategies including literal translation, conversion, amplification, omission and adaptation by words, syntax, speeches. The paper also points out the good attributes of a translator including bilingual language competence, rich background knowledge, serious working attitude, quick searching capacity. |
