| With the deepening of economic globalization and rapid development of information and technology, political, economic and cultural communication between different countries becomes closer and closer, especially in the field of economy. Therefore, more and more people become interested in economic news. English, as a language that is used most widely, is also the tool to report news. Therefore, economic English news is getting more and more importance in economic communication. Translation of economic English news plays an important role in getting familiar with international economic state and western economic opinions.This paper is a translation practice report. The author collects BBC English economic news as the translation content. All the source texts come from the BBC homepage. There are 32 economic news reports. The news that is reported spans from December in 2014 until March in 2015. There are more than 17,000 English words in total.This report is based on the translation practice. Under the guidance of Relevance Theory, this paper mainly discusses the translation of metaphors used in the English economic news. In the process of translating economic news, the author finds the phenomenon that metaphors are frequently used in economic news. What’s more,metaphors make it more difficult for translating the news. Therefore, the author pays more attention to the translation of metaphors. Based on Relevance theory, the author gains a deeper understanding of the translation of metaphors. Through analyzing some cases,some translation methods for metaphors are summarized, such as metaphor into metaphor,metaphor into non-metaphor and metaphor into simile.Through this translation practice, the author knows better the importance of the combination of theory and practice. The translation level is improved by practice.Meanwhile, when meeting problems in translation, one can search solutions from theories.In this way, the translation level can be improved. |
