The translation task is an invitation letter named Invitation of Paid Service Suggestion onIT, Sound Effect and Audiovisual Special Facility Consultant for Tianjin Chow Tai FookCenter. The invitation consists of seven parts, which are the Notice for bidder, the Projectessential, the Bidding return form, the Scope of consultant service, the Sample of consultantservice contract, the Letter of commitment of confidentiality and a set of schematic drawing.The writer has translated the Chinese invitation letter to English.This translation report is composed on the translation process of the invitation letter bythe writer. The report is divided into four parts. Part one is task description, part two thetranslation process, part three the case analysis, and part four the practice conclusion.Emphasis of each part is different due to the various contents of the invitation letter. Therefore,the writer refers to the translation theory of German Functional School. According to Reiss, akey theorist of this school, translation is an activity with purpose, and a translator should meeta client’s needs under the guidance of translation aim in accordance with client’s trust.Technology translation, construction translation and contract translation are the maintasks. The importance of faultless translation is obvious. Therefore, the writer should not onlyunderstand the context, but also translate professional terms correctly. The writer gets a lot ofdifficult tasks done with the help of internet. Websites such as Google, CNKI havetremendous information storage that you need, so a good translator should know how tooptimize the internet. It’s helpful for translation.
