Early Qing Dynasty is the last real feudal period in ancient China. Although it has made agreatachievements in political, economic, cultural and other aspects, it is only the last gasps of the feudalsociety. The disadvantages appears constantly with the increasingly intensified social contradictions,various bad folk custom coming into being which is representative in Jiang nan area which is insouthern region with developed economy. To prevent these bad customs, many distinguished menmake unremitting efforts, Chenhong Mou being one of them. For social problems at that time,Chenhong Mou compiles a book that covers many aspects of social ethics, family ethics,folk customs, which has a high historical value.This paper mainly sorts out the social customs reflected in stopping burial funeral, blindfaith in monks and Taoists, encouraging extravagance and favor in lawsuit, and analyzesthe social reason these bad customs appears, as well as making clear the attitude ofofficials and the people. We can present a real living condition of the people who lived inJiang nan area in early Qing Dynasty by studying the bad folk customs.
