As a famous contemporary writer in America, Joyce Carol Oats in TED interviewed withJonathon Safran Foer, a Jewish American writer, which is selected to be the object of thisinterpretation practice report. Two literary giants’ conversation mainly focuses on JonathonSafran Foer’s writing and its influence on his own life. Moreover, some social problems arealso discussed by the two writers.This practice report consists of five parts: task description, process description,preparation for the interpretation practice, case-analysis,summary and conclusion. In the firstpart, the task description offers the source of the selected interview and the nature of this taskas well. The second part depicts the preparation work, the interpreting process, analysis andsummary. The preparation for the interpretation practice report is the main subject of the thirdpart, which includes the collection of the interview, a study of the background of theinterviewer, the analysis of the interviewer’s language style and the related equipmentpreparation. The forth part is case analysis: the core part of this practice report, in which therepresenting examples are given and studied carefully. The final part is about what could belearnt from this simultaneous interpretation practice. This paper finally points out that solidbilingual language abilities, extensive knowledge and instant response are the key elementsfor a qualified interpreter.
