A Practice Report On The Translation Of Six Articles About Enterprises From The Economist In2012&2013

Six articles about enterprises from The Economist in2012and2013are the objects ofthis translation practice report. The task is to translate the English articles into Chinese. Thisreport consists of five parts: task description, process description, preparation, case analysisand conclusion. Task description and process description introduce the translation task indifferent aspects, including background, texts, features of the language and the detailedprocess. In the part of preparation, features of the texts chosen and of the language areanalyzed with reference to some relevant materials and then the source language of thearticles is studied carefully. The chapter of case analysis elaborates the problems in thistranslation practice, and reports the methods and means used to resolve the problems in theprocess. The part of conclusion summarizes the report briefly. Enterprise report belongs tonews, and its language is objective compared with other texts, so the translated articles shouldalso comply with the principle of being objective and the target language should be brief andaccurate. The key to be a good translator is to understand the source language correctly andthen express it exactly in target language.
