This paper, on the basis of the previous studies, compared in detail the verbsin Chinese children’s language before the age of five from the semantic type andgrammatical function, overlapping form and semantic formation of verbalstructure with the target language, summarized Chinese children verbs usagecharacteristics, and focused on these features to carry on appropriate explanationin cognitive and pragmatic. The comparison shows that, Chinese children before the age of five havemastered the vast majority of types of verbs in target language, only the FormVerb has not been learned, but the number of various types of verbs has a largegap between the children’s language and the target language. Monosyllabic verbsare in a superior position and two-syllable verbs develop slowly, this has obviousdifferences with the target language. Comparison shows, the development of thecombination ability and sentences function of all kinds of verbs in the children’slanguage exists imbalance, grammatical function of action verbs is relativelycloser to the target language. The children have basically learned all kinds ofverbal structure, but the syntactic component vocabulary is much less than thetarget language. On the overlapping verbs view, there is the small number ofchildren language overlapping verbs, and overlapping verbs’ nature is controlledactive verbs, grammatical meaning after verbs overlaps is consistent with thetarget language, but the form of expression is easier than the target language, thereis a large gap between the grammatical function of the overlapping verbs in thechildren’s language and the target language. On the semantic formation of theverbal structure view, the object semantic components of the body word have veryrich, but three semantic components that is making-thing, time and reason don’tappear. The semantic types of verb-complement structure are basically complete, but the complement’s semantic point is not more perplexed than the target language. Semantic roles in verb-adverbial structure have a lot, especially adjunctof the rapid development of semantic roles. The article believes that the reason ofdevelopment of verbal features in the children’s language is not only related withthe developing level of the children’s cognitive and the difficulty of languageelements, but also with the language input frequency and children communicativeneeds.
