Along with the continuous development of modern science-technology andvirtual art, the public art ushered in new challenges. How to expressartists’thought? How to convey the audience’s information? And how can thetraditional art go with the social development? Virtual art appeared, itbecome an important approach to solve the problem of the above.Being a new form of artistic expression, Visual art,through thetraditional modeling ability,the computer technology such as multimedia,virtual boundary (virtual world)and the internet media ways,interaction withthe public; carries on the artistic creation and appreciation.As theindispensable important content in modern art, it realizes the audio-visualcommunication, shows the artist’s creative thinking fast and intuitively,participate in the reconstruction of work,the audience to interact andpenetration of re-creation activity.Popular with people, it implements theintegration of modern art and technology--" virtual reality".Start from virtual modeling art and public art,this paper study thedevelopment status of virtual modeling art in social practical applicationand teaching. From two aspects:the engineering practice and teaching,the paperdiscusses the relations about virtual modeling, engineering practice and theteaching. In order to relate the three organic combination:the virtualmodeling, public art project practice and the public art teaching.On the onehand,through virtual modeling combining with engineering andteaching--realize the virtual engineering practice;on the other hand, usingthe virtual simulation modeling characteristic, the virtual project can fasterbe translated into engineering practice, finally realizes "teaching--virtual engineering--engineering project practice" to achieveintegration(figure1)During the analysis of the abstract theory, interspersed practice caseanalysis and summarized method, so as to provide theoretical basis andpractical support for engineering application and practice of teaching,finally contribute to public art industry and education, enrich the contentfor the development of virtual art.
