Objective: Based on the previous studies on speech anxiety, the effectiveness will befurther verified by using meta-cognition intervention technique. And by contrasting the effectof meta-cognition intervention technique and systematic desensitization in the treatment ofspeech anxiety, it will study the difference of two at the time of treatment, the emotionalexperience in the treatment, and the initiative, the satisfaction, the emotional experience in thespeech. To prove that meta-cognition intervention technique are more efficient thansystematic desensitization.Method: The activities about treatment of speech anxiety were held at the counselingcenter of Liaoning Normal University. From the students attending the activities, I selected8students eligible subjects. The8clients were randomly assigned to the meta-cognitionintervention technique group and systematic desensitization group with each group including4people, as far as possible protecting the homogeneity. Before intervention, duringintervention and follow-up time, let the clients fill out the SCL-90scale and PRCS scale.According the changing data, I want to test the effect of two therapies. The experiment designtakes the multiple baseline design, including the baseline period of observation, interventionand consolidation of the observation period. After each counseling, let clients fill out thesubjective satisfaction scale. Through multiple baseline figure, proves that meta-cognitionintervention technique is indeed more effective in treating speech anxiety. In the end, I willhold a simulated speech contest. According their own subjective feelings, the clients fillself-designed self-performance evaluation questionnaire in the treatments and the mockspeech. The data is verified by W rank sum test to prove two methods remarkably differentResults: Accepting the intervention of Meta-cognition intervention technique andsystematic desensitization, SCL-90and PRCS scores were reduced below the critical standard.This proves that the two are effective in the treatment of speech anxiety. The baseline mapcan be observed that the treatment effect of meta-cognition intervention technique group iscaused by the treatment, rather than other factors, and the effect is maintained. Taking W ranksum to test the data of two groups of treatment time and self-designed self-performanceevaluation questionnaire in the treatments and the mock speech, we conclude that Meta-cognition intervention technique is a more comfortable and more efficient treatmenttherapy.Conclusion: Meta-cognition intervention technique and systematic desensitization areeffective methods for speech anxiety. However, the treatment time of meta-cognitionintervention technique is significantly shorter than the systematic desensitization. Theemotional experience in the treatment is more comfortable than systematic desensitization.The treatment effect is better than the systematic desensitization, too. Therefore, for speechanxiety, meta-cognitive intervention technique is more efficient.
