In recent years, with the development and globalization, interpreting is becoming more and more important, so is the research on interpreting. The interpreters’ performance has been attracting more and more attention in China, especially during the two sessions of NPC(National People’s Congress) and CPPCC(Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference). While the most difficult problems interpreters encountered during each press conference are the various culture-loaded terms which are of distinct national features including distinctive historical, religious and geographical information. These phrases are unique to the Chinese and cannot find their equivalences in the target language. They gain spotlight, but at the same time become a difficulty in the press conference interpreting because of their distinctive features. This essay begins with the general introduction to press conference interpreting which includes explaining the classification and features of press conference interpreting and the factors that influence interpreter’s performance as well. The second chapter is the theoretical framework of this essay---the interpretive theory. With the general introduction to the interpretive theory, the major contents of the theory-sense, interpreting process and the triangle model are also discussed in this chapter. In the third chapter, culture-loaded terms are introduced. The definition, classification and features of the culture-loaded terms are concluded and analyzed. Chapter four first discusses the interpreting process of culture-loaded expressions the light of the interpretive theory. Then the author suggests and collects some methods from the perspective of the interpretive theory. At last, the author reaches the conclusion:interpreters should understand the conceptual meaning as well as the culture connotation completely, adopt proper interpreting methods, and express the information in the target language without being limited by the source words and phrases, so that the speaker’s ideas and culture information can be received accordingly.
