In the initial of Twenty-first Century, China has ushered in a stage of building a well-off society with fast development. Our party and nation has increasingly emphasized the importance of quality-oriented education and regarded it as an important constituent part of enhancing the quality of the nation. Art education is obviously a crucial and indispensable part of the quality education. As a large country with vast rural area, the level of quality education is still low compared with the urban area, not to mention the art education. The fact is that the present situation of art education in rural area is rather terrible. Promoting the reform and development of art education in rural area in a comprehensive way is quite beneficial to the health growth and all-round development of rural students. It also contributes to the promotion of over-all quality of people live who in rural area and apparently beneficial to both the country and the people.This thesis is based on the investigate of the rural schools in Hubei province (mainly in Suizhou City), including inquiry the present situation of art education in rural area, look for the common problems and seek the feasible strategy so as to provide us a clear awareness of the art education in rural area. The research will promote the knowledge level and teaching ability of teacher, enrich the aesthetic study and extracurricular lives of rural students, which enable the rural students obtaining an all-round development in a relative backward region. Furthermore, the research will provide certain reference to the governor so as to set down some effective policies that are aimed at the art education in rural area. Owing to my limited research ability and also the restriction of external condition, the research was carried out in some representative rural schools in Suizhou city, expecting to find out from a point to an area so as to explore a proper approach and strategy for the reform of art education in the rural area of Hubei province, and thus effectively promoting the all-round development of art education in rural area of China.This thesis is consisted of six parts. The first part introduces the background, the development situation in domestic and overseas, the approach and ideas used in this research. The conception and related theory basis of art education as well as its benefits to the students is devotes in the second part. A lot of investigate on some representative rural schools in Suizhou city has implemented based on the above theory, and accordingly obtain some typical data in part3. The specific problems that are existed in the construction of teaching staff, the teaching quality and the management of education department of art education in rural area being analysed detailed in part4. Therefore, Corresponding strategies are promoted in part5. In part6, several doubts are put forward for future research. The part4and5constitute the core content of this thesis.
