With long history, China has developed various culture by deep accumulation. Toys, as part of Chinese cultural products in the long process of civilization, have absorbed the essence of Chinese art, creative art and handicraft art, linking with Chinese folk customs, traditional thoughts in various ways. In some sense, Chinese toy culture is a living Chinese folk culture. However, it has been seldom valued, wandering the edge of Chinese culture. Under today’s China’s market economy, toy industry has sprung up, gradually being valued. However, China’s toy industry is just stuck at the level of production and processing, far behind European countries, the United States and our neighbour Japan in the innovative design. The main reason is that China toy design just blindly abandon self-imitation, not going back to our own culture to form own unique design concept and design style. Therefore, it is important to re-organize and research traditional Chinese culture on Chinese toy development.As we all known, there is still no real sense original toys in China. The accumulated thousands of years traditional Chinese toys are undoubtedly an inexhaustible source of original toys. Re-developing traditional Chinese toys market is not to put the same traditional toys on the market, but inherit and innovate traditional Chinese toys, which is the innovation by combining traditional Chinese toys culture and modern design concept. This will inevitably lead to China’s original toy design era.This paper will identify the advantages of Chinese toys culture and face inherent shortage of Chinese toys culture through combing and analyzing traditional Chinese toys culture. Then, it will find markets for traditional Chinese toys, providing new ideas of development and inheriting the fine Chinese culture, facilitating better innovative design and industrial development.
