Interpretation Report For "2012Hangzhou-Poland Culture Festival":Discourse Cohesion In English To Chinese Conference Consecutive Interpreting

This project makes a video transcription of English to Chinese consecutive interpreting for the speech made by the Poland ambassador to China in "2012Hangzhou-Poland Culture Festival Conference" at the preliminary stage (the audiences are officials from Poland and China, organizers and the media); next, the interpretation report is made on the basis of difficulties presented in this interpreting project.The interpreters, in the inter-lingual and intercultural communication, translate the just discourse semantics rather than other linguistic units, therefore, fuzzy Information, as the universal nature of human language, is of a great difficulty facing interpreters in the interpreting process. The difficult of this project manifests as follows:a) phonetic fuzziness; b) fuzzy sentence levels; c) fuzziness resulted from the usage of ellipsis and reference.This report, under the framework of cohesive theory, conducted example analysis of cohesive devices adopted by the author in "2012Hangzhou-Poland Culture Festival". The report analyzed the following cohesive devices, namely, reiteration and conjunction, in handling fuzzy information and so as to explore its positive effect to interpreting and offer some suggestions for the interpreters in coping with such difficulties.
