This is a translation project on Chapter8of Low Carbon Development: Key Issuesedited by Frauke Urban and Johan Nordensv rd. This chapter is written by famousresearchers and scholars in the field of low carbon development--David Ockwell andAlexandera Mallett. The source text, which is a scientific academic work, falls into theinformative text type according Peter Newmark’s classification of text type. Therefore,in order to produce a qualified translation, different and specific translation strategiesand techniques are adopted in this translation project. The project is divided into fourparts—overview of the project, introduction of the source text, analysis of difficultiesin translation and translation strategies and techniques. Introduction and structure ofthis translation report are firstly stated in the first part; a brief introduction of the authorand source text are introduced in the second part; in the third part, the difficulties intranslation process are analyzed; and translation strategies (such as domestication etc.)as well as translation techniques (such as amplification, conversion and so on) and howthe skopos theory are adopted in translating to produce a qualified translation arediscussed in the last portion of this report.
