It is quite profound that climate change has caused a series problem such as higher temperature, melting glacier, rising sea-level, drought, heat wave and strong storms in the past half of the century. All of these changes have significantly influenced the human social life and economic development over the past 50 years. These severe changes are mainly caused by the increasing of carbon dioxide emission due to the excessive burning of fossil fuels. Therefore, the mitigation of carbon dioxide has gradually become a worldwide heated issue. Under this circumstance, the translator chose Chapter 3 of Climate Intervention:Carbon Dioxide Removal and Reliable Sequestration as the translation material for graduation practice, aiming to gain more information about the latest carbon dioxide removal and sequestration technologies. Climate Intervention:Carbon Dioxide Removal and Reliable Sequestration, a popular science book, mainly focuses on several reliable carbon dioxide removal and sequestration technologies. And Chapter Three analyzes the advantages and potential risks of five technologies therein. In Chapter one, the translator generally introduces the background of the translation report, the significance of choosing this book and the theoretical guidance----Skopos theory proposed by Hans Vermeer of this translation practice. Chapter two is divided into two parts:content of the translation material and linguistic features of the source text. As the key part of the translation report, Chapter three involves two difficulties:terminology translation and long sentences translation. According to the main concepts of Skopos Theory, the translator focuses on how to employ amplification, restructuring and the combination of translation skills to solve the difficulties in the translation process. And the last Chapter is divided into three parts:the experiences in the translation process, the enlightenment for the future translation study and problems to be solved. This translation practice not only helps the translator get a better understanding of Skopos Theory and popular science article translation, but also makes the translator realize that a solid language foundation and indispensable professional knowledge is the prerequisite of translation.
