Landcare in Australiaï¼› Founded on Local Action is a booklet of thedevelopment of the landcare movement in Australia, which was published bySecretariat for International Land Care. It is also available on the official website ofthe Australian Department of Agriculture. It is the source text of this project. Thetarget readers are the ordinary people and it aims to convey information. Accordingto the different sorts of texts divided by Katharina Reiss, the source text is aninformative one. It is easy to understand because the words are simple and clear withalmost no rhetoric. Thus, it requires the translator to express in popular andeasy-to-understand language. As for the translation theory, the translator chose the Skopos Theory put forwardby Hans J. Vermeer. During the translation process, the translator was faced withsome difficulties, such as how to translate landcare, the names of so manyorganizations and programs and the logic between each paragraph. In order toachieve intended purpose and intention, the translator used several strategiesincluding adding, transfer, splitting, reverse translation and so on.There is fundamental relationship between the kind of text and its correspondingsuitable translation theory. While writing this report, the author deepened theunderstanding of Skopos Theory and finished this project report with inspiration.
