TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) is human’s greatest treasure house, it’s Chinese nation’s accumulation of the rich experiences for thousands of years when they’re fighting against disease. Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the oldest and most powerful systems of traditional medicine. Traditional Chinese Medicine was rooted deeply into thoughts of Chinese ancient philosophy and culture. From a macroscopic angle, traditional Chinese medicine reflects the laws of mankind’s production activities. Having being evolved and developed for several centuries, Traditional Chinese Medicine has formed a special theory system and diagnosis technology, also, it has made great contributions to Chinese people’s health condition and prosperity. Hence, great leader chairman Mao once said, Traditional Chinese medicine is a great treasure house; we should exploit and probe it positively. Because of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s noticeable style and effects, it not only has enjoyed great popularity in China and Eastern Asia, but also all around the world. Traditional Chinese Medicine will play an increasingly important role in the contribution of human being’s longevity.TCM translation has enjoyed a long history. This paper will probe it from the cultural point of view. In addition to preface and conclusion, it has five chapters in all, the first chapter will recall TCM the history of TCM translation and have a general review of TCM, a summary of problems existed in TCM translation will also be included, the final part of this chapter will introduce the present situation and tendencies of TCM terminology translation will also be included, the final part of this chapter will introduce the present situation and tendencies of TCM terminology translation. The second chapter will discuss the cultural presentation in TCM translation process, the relationship between language, culture and translation will also be discussed. Language is an important component of culture, and culture is a media blearing the weight of it and also disseminated by language, they both are closely connected with each other. As a bridge between language and culture, TCM translation activity is functioned as an information messenger. Translation is not only the transformation of culture, but also the discourse between the two cultures. Therefore, TCM translators should enable themselves not only the capability of two languages, but also manipulation of two cultures. The third chapter firstly analyzes the characteristics of TCM translation, then points what difficulties TCM translation faced, followed by it some specific obstacles in TCM translation were also mentioned, that is, lack of an integrated criterion, long-winded and rigid translation or wordy and unexpected ideas replacement also existed in present TCM translation. The fourth chapter discusses the ways to standardize TCM translation and its criterions, the first of which is to establish systematic TCM translation theories and criterions. Secondly, it enlarges the scopes and criterions of the TCM of translation standardization, the fifth chapter mainly discusses the writer’s opinion on current TCM translation concluded in the practical TCM translation practice resulting in the findings of the related problems and insufficient research in this field. What’s more, some of the author’s outlooks on related TCM technology translation are also formed after reading numerous books written by predecessors for their theories, expecting to make some contributions in the field of TCM terminology translation. One of the principles is to do our best, and to the greatest extent, to retain TCM’s core essence, to reserve the verve of eastern philosophy as its gist. All of it comes from our profound faith, the more powerful TCM western medical thoughts have, the more healthy people will be, and the more TCM culture and thoughts will be dissolved into the world’s medical culture.
