In2008, a film called "Cape No.7"roared across the horizon and blew away530million box-office which made it a record in Tanwan’s film history. After22years of darkness, films in Taiwan finally greeted its first dawn. After that, films like "Winds of September","Monga","You Are the Apple of My Eye" not only got great comments but made high box-office which symbolized the rising of Taiwan films. When seeing this return of "literature and art flavor" that has been lost for so many years in Chinese-speaking films, many filmmakers cannot help but cheer "a new era" has come and nicely call these new and vigorous directors "over the edge".However, just as the "over the edge generation" representative director WeiDesheng said so far they have just conquered this long-time-silent gate and they are still not sure if they can manage the city well. Facing this terrible local market and their own creation limitations with the huge temptation of "going north working", can the "over the edge generation" directors take this responsibility and make Taiwan films into a true spring? This paper analyzes the difficulties on the road during the return of Taiwan films through researching on the background of its birth, the cultural context, the image style and the inheritance and development of the last generation which can decide if Taiwan films have been really out of shadow and into a new era.
