Based on the Effort Model proposed by the French scholar Daniel Gile and MTIexperience in interpreting study and practice, this paper analyses the problem of timeextension in target language production for MTI students by a sample consecutiveinterpreting of an interview with Ma Yun from Dialogue. The paper categorizes thedisfluency in time extension into pauses in terms of vocabulary, form and planning.According to the sample material, the paper finds out potential reasons for disfluency andoffers improvement strategies. Meanwhile, approaches and principles before, in and afterthe interpreting are provided through specific examples to enhance the quality ofinterpretation and ensure its accuracy and fluency.In this paper, the author reflects the shortcomings in interpreting training and reasonsfor them by analyzing the difficulties of sample interpreting and meanwhile providesimprovement under theoretical guidance. It also summarizes corresponding strategies tohandle such difficulties in consecutive interpreting as reference for daily training. |
