The Modernity And Nationality In Ma Sicong’s Works

Ma Sicong is a well-known violinist, composer and music educator in the Chinese modern music history. He has made a great contribution to the spread and development of our folk music. His music not only fully learns from western music composition technology but also inherits our traditional folk music tradition. This sort of perfect combination makes music have personal features. This paper aims to study the third sonata, suite, rebiya and some works with modern characteristics, and make a comprehensive review and research of his music creation features.First of all, this paper will give an explanation to modernity, and then makes an overview to those factors that affect Ma Sicong’s music composition. By analyzing the third sonata, suite, rebiya and works with modern characteristics, the author will further explore the modernity and nationality of Ma Sicong’s musical works.
