Chinese characters are written symbols system of recording Chinese, are the unity of shape, sound and meaning. As an integral part of Chinese learning, the difficulty of learning Chinese characters is widely recognized. Character teaching is also a difficulty in teaching Chinese as a second language. For students, the first of learning Chinese is to learn Chinese characters, but the characters are often let the students do not know how to do. Especially for Spanish-speaking students in Chile, Chinese characters is undoubtedly a completely different system of words, it is so difficult for them to adapt.This article is from the perspective of problem solving, for example of the Chinese Classroom Teaching in the Confucius Institute of Chile San Tomas, and analysis the necessity and feasibility of classroom activities design for teaching Chinese characters by the survey of students and teachers in the Confucius Institute. On this basis, the designs of different types of characters activities are used in teaching practice.This paper consists of five parts:The first part introduces research purpose and meaning, current research, as well as research methods and ideas. Therefore, in the past Chinese teaching profession did not attract enough attention on the design of classroom activities, especially Chinese character teaching activity design. It is necessary and worthy of further investigation.The second part is firstly based on the results of the survey of the students’learning characters Situation and teachers’teaching characters Situation in the Confucius Institute of the Chile St. Thomas University.Then explores the necessity of the classroom activity designs of Chinese Characters Teaching from the three perspectives of characteristics of Chinese characters, the students’characteristics and teaching Then, analysis the feasibility of characters Classroom activities designs on the principles of teaching Chinese characters and classroom activities designs.The third part based on the analysis results, designs Chinese Characters classroom activities in the three categories of recognizing and reading activities, writing activities and Comprehensive activities. In totally,11kinds of characters activities are designed and applied to teaching practice. Part IV uses questionnaires, respectively, and assesses the effect of teaching from the perspective of students and teachers. Then summarizes the teaching effectiveness of the various characters design activities, and analysis the inadequacies of the study, and thus to improve optimization.The fifth part is the conclusion. The main points and conclusions of the full text are summarized, and I hope to provide some reference to the Chinese Characters teaching of the Confucius Institute and even the teaching Chinese characters of TCSL...
