The ultimate goal of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language is to cultivate communicative competence of Chinese learners,learning language function can quickly and effectively improve students’level of Chinese communication.Therefore,guided by the principle of "the combination of structure,function and culture",we keep the focus on the language function about "suggest" for it’s grammer, semantics, application and other aspects of the main expressions. At the same time,we try to find out the reason why Chinese learners usually make some errors,and then, putting forward some effective teaching strategies.There are four chapters in this paper: in the first chapter,we try to make a brief introduction about the language function and propose the approaches and significance of this research.The second part is classifing the expressions of the language function about "suggest"according to the tone and the degree of ideographic,and making a brief analysis;the third part is taking indicative and imperative suggestions as the research objects,to make a comprehensive analysis from the grammer, semantics,and application of these expressions, finding out the reason why Chinese learners usually make some errors,,and putting forward some effective teaching strategies.The last part is the conclusion,summarizing the views and put forward the prospects for the language function of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.
