There is an instructional theory said that the combination of structure, function and culture to constitute a complete unity is the best way to achieve the basic goals of training the ability of language communication. Under the direction of this theory, this paper tries to choose the language function about "modest" as the object to be researched. At the same time, on the basis of so much research production on domain ontology, this paper makes a study from grammar, the semantics, and the application, especially, from the aspect of application on four different types of expression about "Modest". Meanwhile, I also try to conclude and analysis the errors which the foreigners may appear during the process of learning these expressions, find the reasons of these various errors, attempting to find some strategies to avoid making mistakes during the process of intercultural communication, to improve and perfect Chinese courses about "Modest" in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
