The meaning of the word is restricted by context. The connotation can't be determined, if the word appears alone. Context is the key of vocabulary teaching.The paper maily explores how to apply context theories into vocabulary teaching, how to solve the error of word meanning, and how to select right answers in HSK by context. Firstly the paper interprets two important conceptions: context and lexical meaning, then discusses the connections between them .On the basis of theories above, the paper explores the method of analyzing the word meaning and the method of corrcecting the word error. The paper conbines linguistic context and situational conext with the feature of sign to explain the grammatical meaning of the function words. The paper also explains the full words meaning by lexical context, situational context and cultural context, etc. Both situational context and semanteme analysis are the effective methods to explain word meaning. As far as the writer is concerned, it is a direct and useful method to distinguish word meaning by connecting the two ways mentioned above, and the new method is named"situational semanteme analysis".Context is not only the method of word teaching ,especially it is the way to learning Chinese words by themselves, and the effective method of taking the examination of Chinese. Therefore, it is vital to arouse consciousness of context, and learn how to utilize context for word teaching. About HSK, the writer suggests that different types of questions should select relative context to solve them. The purpse is to help them make use of the relative context to grasp the connotative meaning of word and use the words they have learned to express their idea appropriately.In the writer's opinion, vocabulary teaching in Teaching Chinese as the Second Language should be integrated with the context. It is not only the new way to teach Chinese word, but also the effective method to enhance the productiveness of learning. As long as teachers, they employ context in their teaching and different methods to different learners, the function of context will be manifested and vocabulary teaching will achieve good result .
