On C-E Translation Of Metaphor In Chinese Economic News From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Nowadays with more and more frequent economic and cultural communication between China and the west, people are paying growing attention to economic news. Economic news not only has a large number of economic terminologies, but also has many metaphoric expressions. As an important figure of speech, the widespread use of metaphor in economic news makes the news report more vivid and accessible. However, the application of metaphor also poses more challenge for economic news translation. It’s safe to say that metaphor translation largely affects the quality of the whole news translation.The present thesis is devoted to the research of metaphor translation in economic news under the guidance of Skopos Theory. It firstly begins with the task description and the analysis of the status quo, the content and the significance of metaphor translation in economic news. Then it focuses on the analysis of task preparation, task process, and the revision, by which the economic news and metaphor translation will be sketched. Next it presents the theoretical basis of the research, which is Skopos theory. And finally, a case study was conducted based on the economic news translation by the author, in which three ways in translating metaphor in economic news are analyzed. It is hoped that the paper can provide some reference on the practice and related research of metaphor translation in economic news.
