A Project Report On The Translation Of Political And Economic News From China-ASEAN Panorama

During the internship in the editorial department of China-ASEAN Panorama in 2019,the translator was assigned to translate political and economic English news of ASEAN countries from ASEAN Today,involving the politics,economy,fintech,society and education of ASEAN countries.The translator adopts the Skopos theory as the theoretical guidance to complete the translation practice.The translation report elaborates on the whole process of translation practice and summarizes the translation difficulties and corresponding translation methods by means of case analysis.The major methodological conclusions based on the translation practice include: a)translate the news headlines by means of literal translation,free translation and restructuring;b)apply the methods of omission and literal translation in treating the newcompounds and words with new meanings;c)decipher the non-literal meanings of idioms and paraphrase them within the context;d)as for the trans-editing of news body,under the principle of the main theme of the source text and logic structure and intra-textual coherence in the target text,use the general methods of in-paragraph trans-editing and intra-textual trans-editing and the specific methods of trans-editing including adaptation,cutting out the sentences of repeated or unnecessary information and reorganizing the order of sentences.
