| With the rapid development of global integration, people communicate with the outside world more and more intensively. It is important to broaden the channels of exchanges with Western countries and help foreign readers understand China through media reports. Nowadays, people can get information in a great number of ways, such as newspapers, broadcasts, TV, the internet and cellular phones. The economic news accounts for a big proportion in them and receives close attention at home and abroad. Although there are many researches and achievements about news translation, the translation of economic news is paid little attention to. The core theory of the German functionalist theories, the skopos theory, presented by Hans Vermeer in 1970s, provided a new perspective for translation theories and practice. It broke restrictions of conventional equivalence, which confined the translation to language scope. Based on a full analysis of the original text, the skopos theory prefers to select translation methods according to expected purposes or functions of the target text.This thesis aims to analyze the C-E economic news translation from the perspective of the skopos theory. The application of the three rules (skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule) are introduced to C-E economic news translation. With a large number of examples, the author analyzes the frequently used translation methods:addition, deletion, literal translation, reorganization and so on. After the interpretation of the theory and analysis of the strategy, the author of the thesis thinks that the approach of economic news translation should be top-down, namely, building explicit translation brief, analyzing source text, choosing proper translation methods under the guidance of the three rules in skopos theory and applying them to the practice of C-E translation of economic news.There are four chapters in this thesis. Chapter One presents the status quo of economic news translation. The theoretical framework appears in Chapter Two, in which the main contents of skopos theory and correlative theories are introduced. Chapter Three makes a text analysis of economic news:headline, lead and body. Chapter Four is the body of this thesis, in which the concrete application of the three rules to the translation of headlines, lead and body is analyzed at length on the basis of the corpus of economic news.In addition, the author has pointed out the limitations of this thesis and the shortcomings in the research process. More studies on C-E economic news translation are expected in order to improve its translation quality. |
