This is a translation report on “Media and Communications Regulations andchild Protection: An Overview of the Field” written by David Oswell. The sourcetext mainly reviews the issue about media regulation in western countries in history,states the target and laws of media regulation, introduces relevant regulationinstitution and proposes some regulation methods. The main contents of thistranslation report can be divided into four parts. The first part is translation reportdescription, including the background, objectives, significance and structure. Thesecond part describes the background of the source text, including the author, maincontents and analysis on the source text. The third part discusses the translationdifficulties and the adopted translation methods. During the translation process, inorder to deal with long sentences, difficult sentences and legal terms, translationmethods such as conversion, amplification, omission and literal translation areadopted based on the Functional Equivalence Theory. The last part concludes theinspiration, lessons and experience from this project as well as some unsolvedproblems. |
