| With the process of globalization, exchanges between countries in the world becomemore and more frequent. As a medium between different languages and culture, interpretingis a basic tool for people to communicate with others. There are various kinds of interpreting,such as conference interpreting, court interpreting, business interpreting, sight interpreting,escort interpreting etc. Escort interpreting refers to many aspects of interpreting task, such asreception, accompanied, tourism, shopping and other activities in foreign affairs. Escortinterpreting has its own special characters, which relates to a wide range of subjects withvarious forms. Often emergency in the work site can not be predicted. Thus requires theinterpreter to make sufficient preparation for the translation of the task in order to improvetheir adaptability.This paper based on the author’s practice in2013June as an interpreter for an Americanorchestra, Revolution’s China Tour, focusing on the analysis of various interpreting problemsaccrued during the interpreting process, and explores the corresponding interpretationstrategies and solutions. The first part of the article introduces the background information ofthe interpretation task; the second chapter describes the process of interpreting, and dividesthe process into three stages, that are pre-preparation stage, interpreting process, and mattersafter the interpreting; the third chapter selects some typical cases of the interpretation, guidedby Gile’s "Effort model", analyzing the importance of preparation in interpreting process, soto find out the contact characteristics and operation difficulties in escort interpretation; thefourth chapter summarizes the gain and loss during the practice, and hopes that the author’sexperience and mistakes in the case as well as some measures responded to the problems canprovide references for later interpreters, and also been research materials for scholars in thefield of interpretation. |
