This is a translation report for the Year of the Flood written by Margaret Atwood a famous Canadian writer, who is known for the queen of Canadian literature. On the basis of the brief introduction and the background of the source text, this report holds the view that translations should follow the translation principle of context coming first and apply the translation skills of adding, conversing and splitting part of text and amplification when dealing with the literary texts. When handling the long sentences translations should take into account the context of the sources and endeavor to enable the target texts faithful, smooth, fluent and natural in accordance with the expression of target languages. Meanwhile, translators should give consideration to the stylistic traits of the source and attempt to make the style of the target text coincide with context of the source text. Through this translation, it is expected to improve related professional translation theory and practice, broaden our horizon in translation.
