With the world’s development and our national strength growing, international exchangesbecome more and more frequent. In the context of economic globalization, it requires not onlyprofessional skills, but also the professional personnel with good English communication skills.Therefore, only try our hard to develop the students with technical skills and capacity of practicalEnglish can meet the current requirements of social economy.At the present stage, vocational institutions mainly have English teaching only with thebasic content, emphasis on teaching but contempt learning. Teachers aim at finishing targets, yetthe visual display of teaching target is scores. Thus,there is the contradiction existed. To solvethis problem, we have to adjust and improve the current teaching methods, in order that ourEnglish to become a technical ability, but not just a testing tool.Most of the students in vocational institutions have poor cultural foundation, they are nogood at learning. Teachers should pay more patience on these students to get prosperous teaching.But the current teaching methods are very difficult to stimulate the enthusiasm of the students,still, the students themselves are lack of autonomy of learning English. In such a vicious spiral,the students’ learning burden will be more and heavier and receive worse learning effect. And theworld requires English skills; the mastery of the English can also greatly enhance theemployment competitiveness in the future. Therefore, to change the current situation of Englishteaching, to stimulate the enthusiasm of students, to help them improve their English skills bybetter ways, is a pressing matter in the current English teachingThis paper is on the research of the current situation of English teaching in vocationalinstitutions, analysis of existing problems in the curriculum and teaching practice. It’s based onthe theory of Heuristic teaching, drawn on the experience of theoretical research in the relatedsubject, such as sociology, pedagogy, etc. It studied by means of literature survey, questionnaireand comparison research, and so on, introduced the Speak out Heuristic Teaching in the Englishlessons of vocational institutions. That can help students to break the weak from traditionalteaching and change the existing English teaching in vocational institution. It also put forwardthe suggestions and opinions of application and implementation in practical English teaching.
