The Chinese education in the Philippines has the history of hundreds of yearsalready. Until today Chinese education on the basis education system of local Chineseschool in Philippines is almost perfect. It also gradually dips into the basis educationsystem and higher education system of the mainstream society of Philippines.However, the lack of leadership and management about Chinese education leads to alot of problems exiting still, such as non-uniform teaching materials, unbalancedteachers and unreasonable curriculum. The author expounds comprehensively thecurrent condition of Chinese education in the Philippines according to the survey ofeleven schools including four local Chinese basic education schools in Philippines,four basic education schools of mainstream society in Philippines, one university ofmainstream society in Philippines, one university founded by Chinese in Philippinesand one Confucius institute in Philippines.There are four main parts in this paper. The first part is the introduction includingthe origin of the selected topic and review of research. The second part is the reviewof Chinese education in Philippines. The author discusses it from two aspects: localChinese schools and mainstream schools. The third part is the report on a survey ofChinese education condition in the different kinds of schools including the design ofthe survey, comparative analysis on the current condition of Chinese education oflocal Chinese basic education schools and mainstream basic education schools inPhilippines, current condition of Chinese education of local Chinese university andmainstream university in the Philippines and the analysis of the current condition ofChinese education in Confucius institute. The fourth part is suggestions to promotethe development of Chinese education in the Philippines: to strengthen the international promotion of Chinese in colleges and universities of Philippines; tostrengthen the guidance and supervision of teaching skills to the Chinese teachers inthe mainstream school; to unify Chinese language teaching materials from “twodirections”; teaching traditional Chinese characters transform to teaching simplifiedChinese characters.There is a good wish that this paper can give the help on the future research andstudy of Chinese education in Philippines.
