Modern Chinese adverb not only has some grammatical meaning of notional words, but also has some grammatical features of words. In many modern Chinese adverbs, the semantic of adverb "dao" is complex, and the frequency of use is higher. For the foreign students, it is not easy to grasp the usage of "dao" and would produce inevitably errors, which affects the language expression and increases the difficulty of teaching. In this thesis, according to analysis of Chinese interlanguage corpus and language contrast methods, I analyzed various usages of "dao" from different degrees. The purpose is to find out some regular phenomena for "dao" and make an objective interpretation.The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part discusses research origin of "dao" error analysis, the significance of its teaching and the train of thoughs and the relevant research on "dao"; In the second part, the meaning and usages of "dao" are classified into three categories, and contrast "dao" with relevant adverbs; The third part introduces three error types and make a statistical analysis in accordance with the error conditions of "dao", and analyze main errors and difficulties of foreign students with different Chinese level through the objective and subjective questionnaire, and then discuss the reasons of error. Lastly, we present the teaching suggestions for the adverb "dao".
