On Chinese Translation Of The Strategic Plan For Morgan State University,2011-2021in Light Of Functional Equivalence

"Growing the Future, Leading the World:The Strategic Plan for Morgan State University,2011-2021" is the basic plan of Morgan State University for the next ten years.Under the guidance of Functional Equivalence Theory, the author translated the whole text, paying much attention to the translation of words and sentences. Combining the translation process and the analysis of the translated text, the author focuses on the difficulties in translating the informative text, especially translating nouns and verbs of the text. In the light of the characteristic of informative text, the author analyzes the linguistic features of this text. Then, the author briefly introduces the Functional Equivalence Theory which guides the translation process of the text as well as the analysis of the translation. The author, taking into account the feature of the material, decides on the translation strategies so as to better convey the information of the source text into the target text. The final part of the thesis is a conclusion from this translation practice, including both gains and deficiencies.
