A perfect business plan is indispensable for persuading bankers and venture capitalists to invest in one's new or growing enterprise.A business plan functions as a bridge turning the initial idea into the fully functioning business.Compared to a relative lack of systematic knowledge at home,it is worthwhile for us to study advanced experience in writing a business plan. The translation project is an excerpt of The Perfect Business Plan Made Simple written by William R.Lasher.The excerpt made from the book deals with such topics as the executive summary, the ideas of mission and strategy, the entrepreneur, management team and the general discussion of market. With the guidance of the functional equivalence theory, the translator primarily studies the translation of technical terms and translation strategies of word-meaning choice and expression for common words to produce lexical equivalence. And according to the syntactic features, the translator also analyzes the translation of passive voice and attributive clauses to produce syntactic equivalence.Besides on the basis of the stylistic features of the source text, the translator mainly analyzes the role of omission and four-character structures played in producing stylistic equivalence. At the end of this report, the translator also summarizes gains and shortcomings with the hope that people who translate the same text can benefit from them at some point. This translation project contains five parts.Part one is the introduction of background and purpose and significance of the project.Part two presents the introduction of the source text.Part three involves the overview of translation theory and the reasonability of its application.Part four focuses on case analysis under the guidance of the theory.Part five summarizes gains and shortcomings in this translation practice.
